Oct 10, 2025, 14:52 PM

With the signing of the American Relief Act, 2025 on December 21, 2024, these Medicare telehealth waivers were extended through March 31, 2025. (CMS, 2025) With the passage of H.R. 1968 (2025) on March 15, Medicare telehealth flexibilities have been extended, temporarily, through September 30, 2025. (CCHP, 2025)

Below are the extended Medicare Telehealth flexibilities through September 30, 2025.

  • Receipt of telehealth for non-behavioral/mental health care
  • No geographic restrictions on the originating sites for these non-behavioral/mental health services.
  • FQHCs and RHCs can still serve as originating sites for non-behavioral/mental health.
  • Delivery of audio only mental health services when the provider can provide audio visual telehealth services, but the patient does not have capability or declines consent for video usage.

With the passage of this legislation, medical services rendered via telehealth can continue for an additional 6 months. Pending further legislation, this will once again leave telehealth open to restriction starting 10/01/2025.
