As we head into the dog days of summer, PAMPAC continues working to increase physician engagement in the political process. As we have discussed previously, PAMED’s legislative advocacy efforts rely on the “behind the scenes” work PAMPAC does in the “political advocacy” space. Without a strong political voice, working to achieve legislative goals becomes increasingly more difficult.
Over the past 6 months, PAMPAC has enjoyed an increase in membership largely due to growth in first-time contributors and retired physicians. We have also seen a number of physicians contributing higher amounts than in previous years, which is encouraging. However, retention of last year’s members remain low and will be the focus of PAMPAC’s fall membership campaign.
Last fall’s friendly competition between physicians in the East against those in the West helped to raise PAMPAC’s profile among PAMED member physicians an increased PAMPAC membership. We are happy to announce that “Strengthening PAMPAC’s Political Muscle” campaign, along with its trademark skeleton, will return later this summer. As we experienced last year, the campaign’s goal will be to build as much “political muscle” as possible in advance of PAMED’s House of Delegates meeting in mid-October.
At a time when politics has become so polarized, and political interest groups are pressured by lawmakers to “pick a side”, PAMPAC remains steadfast in its resolve to remain non-partisan. Since its founding in 1964, we continue to support pro-medicine candidates who are dedicated to making positive changes to improve physicians’ ability to appropriately care for their patients.
Although we will not see legislative elections this November, PAMPAC is already looking ahead to potential opportunities in 2026, when the entire State House of Representatives and half the State Senate will stand for reelection. Now is the time to build our resources in advance of what will likely become a very politically competitive 2026.
Help build PAMPAC’s political muscle by joining today by making your contribution online at pampac.org. Our strength is solely reliant on the support we receive from physicians. Please contribute generously.
