PA Department of Health Withdraws Proposed Rulemaking on Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases

In August, the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) issued out proposed regulations on 28 Pa. Code Chapter 27 (Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases). The public was given until September 21, 2026, to review the proposed regulations and submit written comments. In response to the public comment period, Pennsylvania Medical Society submitted comments.

Shortly after the public comment period closed, DOH decided to withdraw the proposed rulemaking published at 56 Pa.B. 5131 (August 8, 2026) from consideration. The DOH intends to make further revisions to the proposed regulations and resubmit it as a new proposed rulemaking at a future date.
