New Organ and Tissue Donation Continuing Education Requirement: Learn More and Access the Course

Effective May 1, 2026, Pennsylvania licensed physicians must complete at least 2 hours of CME in organ and tissue donation and recovery process (organ donation). This mandate applies to all license types (active, active retired, volunteer, compact, etc.). This is a one-time requirement, and physicians have 5 years to complete this requirement:

• A physician who obtains initial licensure prior to May 1, 2026, must complete the 2 credit hours within 5 years of licensure renewal.
• A physician who obtains a license on or after May 1, 2026, must complete the 2 credit hours within 5 years of initial licensure.
• A physician who reactivates an expired or inactive license on or after May 1, 2026, must complete the 2 credit hours one time within 5 years of reactivation.

You can comply with this requirement by going to the PAMED Learning Center and taking the new online organ donation course, Donate Life Act: Organ & Tissue Donation and Recovery Process. It is the first listing in the course catalog. This course is intended for physicians; therefore, only physicians can access it.

Member physicians can access the course at no cost, while non-member physicians may purchase the course for $50. All users must establish an account with the PAMED Learning Center to access content. PAMED membership is not required to hold a PAMED Learning Center/PAMED website account.

Please follow the steps below to get started:

1. Web Browser –Chrome or Safari is recommended for the best experience.
2. Click on this link to be directed into the course in the PAMED Learning Center: Donate Life PA: Organ & Tissue Donation and Recovery Process
3. Use the SIGN IN button in the top right of the page to log into the PAMED Learning Center. You will be directed to the PAMED website to sign in or to create an account.
1. If you already have a PAMED website account, please enter your PAMED website login credentials as these credentials will be the same for the PAMED Learning Center.
2. If you do not have a PAMED website account, please create an account as indicated. You will be prompted to provide your first and last name, date of birth, and an email address for your account that is not a shared email address as each profile must have a distinct email address of record.  Entering a license number is optional but does help to verify your identity in our records.
4. When you are logged in, you should be redirected to the Organ & Tissue Donation course. If not, click on the link provided above again.
5. You must “purchase” a course to unlock the content, even if your cost is $0. Click on the “Purchase” button and your account will be synced with your web profile to determine your purchase cost. Once the data syncs, the Purchase button will disappear. If it doesn’t, click on the button that reads “click here to synchronize.”
6. When the content is accessible, you click on each task in the course to advance through the content.

Upon completion of the activity evaluation, a certificate will be generated and emailed to you. You can also view and access your certificate from the “My Activity” tab in the PAMED Learning Center.

PAMED is also hosting a 2-hour in-person training on organ donation on Friday, October 23^rd at The Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA, as part of the education program offered in conjunction with PAMED’s 2026 Annual Meeting and House of Delegates. The training is free for PAMED members, but non-members can participate in the entire Annual Meeting for a fee of $250. If you wish to attend the CME program, please register here.
