Organ and Tissue Donation and Recovery Process CME

Effective May 1, 2026, Pennsylvania’s physicians must complete at least 2 hours of CME in organ and tissue donation and recovery process (organ donation). This is a one-time requirement that must be completed within 5 years of initial licensure or 5 years of renewal, whichever comes first. This is applicable to both MD and DO licenses, and all active license types (active, active retired, volunteer, compact, etc.).

  • A physician who obtains initial licensure prior to May 1, 2026, must complete the 2 credit hours within 5 years of licensure renewal.
  • A physician who obtains a license on or after May 1, 2026, must complete the 2 credit hours within 5 years of initial licensure.
  • A physician who reactivates an expired or inactive license on or after May 1, 2026, must complete the 2 credit hours one time within 5 years of reactivation.

PAMED is collaborating with stakeholders on approved content and will have an online self-directed course available to physicians in the PAMED Learning Center. PAMED is also hosting a 2-hour in-person training on Friday, Oct. 23 at The Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA, as part of the education program offered in conjunction with PAMED’s 2026 Annual Meeting and House of Delegates. Both options will be available to physician members (free) and non-members (fees apply).

Additional details will be posted when registration for the courses is available.
