PAMED’s Unionization Task Force continues its work. The Board of Trustees created the task force back in 2024 to study what role, if any, PAMED should play regarding physician unionization. Last spring, the task force made an initial report to the Board concerning possible options for PAMED. The Board then charged the task force to continue its work and develop possible courses of action for the Board to consider.

The task force set off to interview at least two existing unions to develop detailed options for the Board to consider. The task force designated an interview team and questions were developed to facilitate in-depth discussions.

The meeting with one union occurred back in December. The task force is currently working to finalize meeting with at least one additional union.

A new survey to further explore interest in physician unionization is also under development. The survey will be completed by both members and non-members and will build on the information learned from the 2024 survey. The survey results will be considered by the Board at its upcoming May 7th meeting.

The Board will also receive a report from the task force at the May meeting. Currently, the task force plans to present multiple options concerning physician unionization for PAMED to consider.
