PAMED Maintains Opposition to State False Claims Act Legislation

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives recently passed Senate Bill 115 and was amended to include provisions establishing a state-level False Claims Act.  The amended legislation now awaits further consideration in the Senate.

While PAMED supports efforts to prevent fraud and protect Medicaid resources, the Society opposes these provisions due to concerns about duplicating existing federal protections and exposing physicians and their practices to additional litigation and financial burdens. These concerns are particularly significant for smaller practices and health care providers already facing financial pressures across the Commonwealth.

PAMED will continue to advocate against these provisions as the legislation moves through the Senate, working to protect physicians and preserve access to care for Pennsylvania patients.
