PAMED Advocates for Evidence-Based Vaccine Recommendations Following Executive Order

The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) strongly supports vaccination and other evidence-based practices and has significant concerns about the Executive Order #14407 signed by President Trump on Monday, August 10, 2026.

The Order aims to reduce the number of recommended immunizations for all children and separates out the combined MMR vaccine to three single-disease shots administered in three separate medical visits.

PAMED believes that reducing the recommended vaccines for all children will have a negative impact on a child’s health, as well as public health. It continues to support the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Recommended Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule and parents having conversations with physicians to make informed decisions about vaccines based on trusted medical expertise.

PAMED also does not support separating the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine into three separate vaccines administered at separate visits. The separation of the MMR vaccine is not the standard of care, nor is it evidence based.

The longstanding, evidence-based approach used to review and provide guidelines for childhood immunizations remains the most reliable way to keep children healthy and prevent serious infections, infections that often lead to serious complications and hospital stays. For decades, immunologists, pediatricians, and other leading health experts have carefully evaluated new data as part of this process, helping to ensure that newborns, infants, and children are protected from infectious diseases.

As always, PAMED will continue to advocate for evidence-based care and work to protect Pennsylvanians from vaccine preventable diseases. PAMED encourages all Pennsylvanians to speak with their physicians to make informed decisions for themselves, and their families based on trusted medical expertise.
