PA DOH Patient Advocacy Program Alert: DEA License Suspensions

Last Updated

Feb 9, 2026, 09:55 AM

PAMED has been informed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) that DEA License suspensions have been issued to two providers at the same practice, which means the providers are currently unable to prescribe controlled substances. Most patients impacted by this event are receiving opioids and benzodiazepines and may be seeking resources to re-establish care, specifically for the treatment of pain.

Patients impacted by the providers' DEA License suspensions will likely come from Montgomery, Chester, Berks, and Philadelphia counties.

Patients treated long-term with opioids and/or benzodiazepines may be physically dependent on their medicine which means they are at risk of severe medication withdrawal, including pain and psychological distress, if care is not quickly re-established.

If you have a practice in the above counties, you may receive an increase in calls or visits from patients because of this incident.
