Apply for the AMA Disability Advisory Group (2027–2028)

The American Medical Association is seeking applications from medical students and physicians with disabilities to serve on the Disability Advisory Group (DAG) for the 2027–2028 term.

The DAG was established to serve as a forum for AMA members with disabilities and to advance inclusion and equity within the AMA and the broader health care community. The group provides thought leadership, strategic guidance, and community building within and outside the AMA, reporting directly to the AMA Board of Trustees.

We encourage applications from AMA members in good standing who self-identify as having a disability and who bring relevant lived experience, along with demonstrated expertise or commitment to building inclusion and advancing disability rights and health equity. About the role

DAG members will serve a 2027-2028 term, and are expected to participate in quarterly virtual meetings as well as at least one working group, each of which meet approximately every other month. All meetings are held virtually, and a hybrid meeting has been offered at the June Annual meeting of the AMA House of Delegates. DAG members serve as individuals, not as institutional representatives. 

 How to apply

Interested applicants should complete the Appointed Council/Committee Application Form found here for the Disability Advisory Group and submit it along with a 2-page executive curriculum vitae by 10pm CT on August 6. The AMA is committed to building a diverse and balanced advisory group. In reviewing applications, consideration will be given to diversity across many dimensions, including type of disability, geography, career stage, and specialty.

• All council applicants must complete a conflict of interest disclosure (see application for the link to complete this)
• Applications are not considered complete until the disclosure form has been submitted
