Specialty Leadership Cabinet (SLC)

SECTION LOGOS FINAL Specialty Leadership Cabinet

Amplifying the Voice of Specialty Medicine in PAMED Leadership

The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) is proud to continue strengthening its longstanding commitment to specialty medicine through the Specialty Leadership Cabinet (SLC). As an advisory body to PAMED's leadership structure, the SLC brings together representatives from specialty societies across the Commonwealth to promote communication, collaboration, and unified representation.

The SLC fulfills its important advisory role by recommending and endorsing specialty physician candidates for vacant seats on the PAMED Board of Trustees designated for specialty representation. While final appointments are made through PAMED’s formal nominating and governance process, the SLC’s input provides valuable insight into the perspectives and priorities of the specialty community.

The SLC also works to educate and inform its members about PAMED resolutions, policy, and governance processes. By guiding members on how to effectively represent their specialties within PAMED, and by sharing key organizational, legislative, and advocacy updates with their respective specialty societies, the SLC helps strengthen communication and collaboration between PAMED leadership and the specialty physician community.

Membership Requirements

Each specialty society is invited to formally nominate one delegate and one alternate delegate to serve on the Specialty Leadership Cabinet. To qualify for membership, nominees must:

  1. Be a current member of PAMED
  2. Actively practice within a medical specialty (that is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties)
  3. Be formally nominated by their specialty society or association

How to Apply

Nomination letters must be sent from the nominee's specialty organization and should include:

  • Full name of the nominee
  • Specialty of the nominee
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Specification if the nomination is for a delegate, alternate, or both

Nomination materials should be submitted to pamedslc@pamedsoc.org.

A Unified Voice, A Stronger Future

Through the SLC, PAMED and specialty societies work together to elevate physician leadership and foster stronger communication between state-level medical leadership and specialty-specific communities. SLC members also serve as key liaisons - bringing pertinent information back to their respective societies and ensuring a continuous two-way flow of knowledge and priorities.

We look forward to continued collaboration with Pennsylvania’s specialty organizations in building a unified and representative future for specialty physicians.
