CDC Updates Masking Recommendations for Indoor Settings and K-12 Schools

AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment 6th edition (second printing April 2009) Remains Version of Guides to be Used for IREs in Pennsylvania
Effective July 1, 2021, the AMA considers “Guides 6th edition 2021” as the most recent edition of the AMA Guides to be used for conducting impairment rating evaluations (IREs) in Pennsylvania. However, despite this latest edition, the “6th edition (second printing April 2009)” remains the statutorily required edition to be used in Pennsylvania. PAMED is working to address the inconsistency between the legislative mandate and the most recent clinical guidelines.

Superior Court Rules in Fair Share Act Case
The Pa. Superior Court found that the Fair Share Act is only implicated when the plaintiff’s comparative negligence is at issue. Prior to the Fair Share Act, when two or more parties were jointly and severally liable for a tortious act, each party was independently liable for the full extent of the injuries stemming from the tortious act no matter their proportion of liability.
