Community-Accessible Testing & Education (CATE) is Pennsylvania’s first mobile vaccination unit. It was founded by the Latino Connection and aims to bring vaccinations and educational materials to minority communities. Starting next week, people will be able to go to www.catemobileunit.com to pre-register. About 120 vaccination events and 100 educational events will take place across Pennsylvania over the coming months. CATE is seeking health care providers who wish to volunteer. You can sign up through this form: https://catemobileunit.com/volunteer.
In speaking with the Pa. Department of Health (DOH), the amount and timing of the vaccine is somewhat out of their hands. We understand from the DOH that they are very eager to work with physician offices, but until the supply and timing becomes clearer, DOH says this is the best way to get the most vaccines to the greatest number of people at this time. During today’s DOH briefing, Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam reiterated her eagerness to allow the 2,800 providers who've signed up to provide the vaccine to administer it.
