At all times, PAMED reserves the right to use and disclose information where required by law or to comply with valid legal process (such as a search warrant, subpoena, or court order), to protect PAMED rights or property (including without limitation in the event of a transfer of control of PAMED or substantially all of its assets), or during emergencies when safety is at risk.
What information do we collect?
We collect information from you in two ways when you visit our site:
Automatically - When you browse our www.pamedsoc.org site and do not interact with the site for any online service or product, you browse anonymously. Information that identifies you personally, such as your name, address, phone number and email address, is not collected as you browse. Information related to your browser type, your computer’s operating system, IP address, number of visits, length of visits and pages visited will be captured.
Voluntarily - When you create an account to become a registered user on our site, or choose to interact online with us in other ways, such as subscribe to email publications, purchase a product, take an online continuing medical education course, utilize our other online services, apply for membership, participate in online surveys, submit questions or comments, or request information or materials, we will collect certain personal information from you. The type of information collected will vary depending on factors such as the product or service that you seek or the manner of your interaction, but may include name, address, phone number, birthdate, license number, billing and delivery information, email address, credit card information and other demographic information.
How we use the information we collect?
The information collected from you via our website may be used to enable the features you are using and provide the service(s) or carry out the transaction(s) you have requested or authorized. It may also be used to further communicate with you and to analyze and improve PAMED activities, products, and services.
Examples of how information is collected and used, includes, but is not limited to:
- Register you for programs and services you have requested
- Process, fulfill, and follow up on your orders or membership application
- Answer your emails or online requests

- Send and process surveys
- Ensure the PAMED sites are relevant to your needs

- Invoice dues or send other messages to help in our administration of your membership
Who do we share information with?
- PAMED Member Database: PAMED maintains an association management system (AMS) to serve the shared needs of PAMED and other participating organizations, including component county medical societies (CMS), the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (Foundation), the Educational and Scientific Trust of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (Trust), and our Pennsylvania Medical Society Consulting Company (PMSCO) subsidiary.
The AMS includes information about physicians and certain other individuals. Information maintained in the AMS includes, but is not limited to name, date of birth, gender, addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses, license numbers, specialty designations, and professional affiliations. Information collected about you via our website may be maintained in this database. Participating organizations do not have access to credit card information.
PAMED has strict guidelines for access, use, and disclosure of information in the AMS by PAMED staff and other participating organizations. We communicate with participating organizations on a regular basis about the importance of safeguarding database information and encourage them to develop and adhere to privacy policies consistent with our guidelines. We cannot, however, absolutely guarantee that participating organizations will abide by our guidelines.
- Third Party Service Providers: We share information with third-party service providers who fulfill orders from website users, contact you on behalf of PAMED, or facilitate some other aspect of our activities, services, or products. These service providers may use your information solely for purposes of performing their contractual responsibilities, and they are prohibited from sharing your personal information with any other third parties, except as required to perform their contractual responsibilities or as required by law.
- Business affiliates and other third parties: PAMED may disclose your information (excluding email addresses) to business affiliates, endorsed vendors and other organizations who may offer you products, services, information or resources that we believe may be of benefit or interests to you or beneficial to the practice of medicine.
How do we share your email information?
As discussed above, your email address collected via our website may be maintained in our AMS unified database. PAMED may disclose email addresses to county medical societies (limited to CMS member email addresses), the Foundation, and the Care Centered Collaborative.
PAMED does not provide email addresses to business affiliates and endorsed vendors, except as approved by the PAMED Board of Trustees.
PAMED may contract with an outside vendor to deliver emails to you on our behalf. These vendors are under agreement and limited from using your email address and other personal information for any other purpose.
Email messages may contain tracking code to measure the offer’s effectiveness so we know how to serve you better. We do not collect information that identifies you personally through tracking. You may refuse or remove the placement of these and other cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your web browser.
How you can control use and disclosure of information about you?
If you do not want us to share your information, you can opt-out.
Also, you may request that PAMED refrain from using or disclosing information about you that is collected via our website by contacting the Knowledge Center at (855) 726-3348 or KnowledgeCenter@pamedsoc.org.
However, we reserve the right to use and disclose your information as provided in this policy if we determine, in our sole discretion, that a requested exclusion is not feasible or an undue burden, except to the extent that we are legally required to honor a request for a restriction.
How can you keep your information up-to-date?
Users who have created an account on our website can access their personal information through the Member Profile section. You can manage your account, or record your preferences about communications from PAMED, including that a request to opt out of email communications from PAMED. If you do not wish to use this online option, you can contact our Knowledge Center at (855) 726-3348 or KnowledgeCenter@pamedsoc.org.
Some of the services available on this site are provided by third parties and may have separate processes for maintaining your account information on their sites.
Remember that PAMED will never email you and ask for your personal information, password or user name. If you send us an email, you should know that email is not necessarily secure against interception.
What are cookies and why do we use them?
A “cookie” is a small file sent by our server, stored on your computer's hard drive, and used by your web browser. We use “cookies” on this site to better understand how our visitors use our site, customize the experience of our visitors, and support some necessary website functions such as Member Login. What happens when you leave our website?
PAMED’s website is intended for adults. PAMED does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If PAMED obtains knowledge that it has personally identifiable information about a child under 13 in retrievable form in its files, PAMED will delete that information from our existing files.
