Health care ethics is a set of moral principles, beliefs and values designed to guide providers in making choices about medical care. In the U.S., four main principles define the ethical duties that health care professionals owe to patients. They are:
- Autonomy: to honor the patients right to make their own decision
- Beneficence: to help the patient advance his/her own good
- Nonmaleficence: to do no harm
- Justice: to be fair and treat like cases alike
During these virtual discussions we will explore the application of health care ethics as physician leaders and consider issues effecting contemporary medicine.
