What Federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Renewal Means for Physician Practices
On January 14, 2022, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that the federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) declaration for COVID 19 will be renewed for another 90 days. The renewal of the PHE is effective Jan. 16, 2022 (the date the PHE was previously scheduled to expire). The federal PHE will now extend to April 2022.

Gov. Wolf Signs Act Implementing Waivers Related to Commonwealth Agency PDMP Access Into Law
This Act implements into law certain waivers that were issued by the Wolf Administration as part of the Opioid Disaster Declaration that the Governor first issued in Jan. 2018 and subsequently renewed several times. The disaster declaration ended on Aug. 25, 2021. With the ending of the declaration, all waivers and flexibilities issued pursuant to the declaration also ended.
