Pittsburgh Anesthesiologist Dr. Michael Best Receive Pennsylvania Medical Society Everyday Hero Award

Last Updated: May 20, 2021

Michael Best, MD, an anesthesiologist at UPMC Mercy, has been named PAMED’s Everyday Hero for May 2021. He received the award at a local ceremony on May 19. Pictures of the award ceremony are attached to this press release.

Dr. Best has been a PAMED member for 12 years. He has been active in PAMED’s Early Career Physicians Section, PAMED’s House of Delegates, and previously on PAMED’s Board of Trustees as the Residents and Fellows Section Trustee as well as the Fourth District Trustee. He has also been active in the American Medical Association Delegation. Dr. Best was nominated for this award by John Pagan, MD, PAMED Speaker of the House of Delegates, for being thorough, thoughtful, caring, bright, and an asset to the health care community.

"It is my honor to honor Dr. Best," said Dr. Pagan. "Michael has served on the PAMED Board of Trustees and always provided thoughtful analysis for complex issues. As an anesthesiologist, his quick insights will keep our surgical patients safe. His thoughtfulness and caring will serve his patients well. Dr. Best is a young physician with a bright future and an asset to the Pennsylvania Medical Society."

PAMED’s Everyday Hero Award program, launched in 2018, honors member physicians who go above and beyond in their profession and in providing patient care. It’s designed to showcase exemplary physicians who probably don’t view themselves as heroes, but to patients and colleagues they are.

Patients and medical colleagues can nominate PAMED member physicians for this award at www.pamedsoc.org/EverydayHero.
