2020 House of Delegates Update

Last Updated: Jun 22, 2020

In light of the ongoing impact of COVID-19, the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s Board of Trustees made the difficult decision to cancel the face-to-face meeting of the 2020 House of Delegates in Hershey. Plans for an alternative remote meeting format are tentatively targeted for the same weekend of October 24-25, 2020.  Details are still being developed using possible virtual platforms with helpful input from a Speakers’ Advisory Panel.

This year and our anticipated 2020 HOD meeting are understandably anything but normal but the Panel strongly advised that PAMED hold elections and review a focused policy agenda.

Your Speakers recognize that under these challenging circumstances, Members, Delegates, Counties, Sections or Specialties are primarily managing the health of their patients and their practices.  While no member should feel obliged to submit an annual resolution, our member voices guide PAMED and our leadership.   Accordingly, your Speakers are requesting only resolutions on the urgent issues facing your practices this year where PAMED can quickly advocate on behalf of our Pennsylvania physicians and patients.  These issues will likely concentrate on local pandemic related patient care and practice challenges and can be submitted using the below unchanged process and timetable.

The Speakers welcome any questions or concerns you may have about the House of Delegates and encourage you to bring those to their attention by contacting Michael Siget, General Counsel.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available on this website.

Thanks for your question Dr. Padula,

House Resolution 506-2019 set the deadline for resolutions at 60 days.

House Resolution 504-2018 required publication of staff research.  This was then codified as a Standing Rule at the same 60 days.

Why is the deadline for late resolutions set for August 25, when the bylaws state 30 days before the annual meeting?
