PAMED Supports Safeguards to Vaccine Access and Public Health in Pennsylvania

Oct 1, 2025, 15:36 PM

The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) strongly supports vaccines and other evidence-based practices that protect public health and prevent disease. The physician community understands the critical role immunizations play in preventing disease and safeguarding vulnerable populations in the Commonwealth.

“Vaccines are one of the most effective tools we have to protect our communities,” said PAMED Vice President Edward P. Balaban, DO, FACP, FASCO. “We believe every Pennsylvanian deserves access to immunizations, without financial or systemic barriers.”

As federal guidelines evolve, PAMED supports legislative measures that require private insurers and Medicaid to cover FDA-approved vaccines recommended by leading medical societies. Anchoring access to expert medical consensus ensures continuity of care and reinforces public health protections statewide.

PAMED CEO, Martin Raniowski said, "PAMED applauds Governor Shapiro for taking the necessary steps to protect Pennsylvanians with his vaccine executive order. He is ensuring health care choices remain between the patient and the physician."

PAMED encourages all Pennsylvanians to speak with their physicians about recommended vaccines and to make informed decisions based on trusted medical expertise and will continue to advocate for evidence-based care and protect Pennsylvanians from vaccine-preventable diseases.
