PA Department of Health Patient Advocacy Program Alert: Provider Arrest
PAMED has been informed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) that a telehealth provider has been arrested, which means patients may not have access to care.
Patients impacted by the provider arrest will likely come from Philadelphia, Allegheny, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Lancaster, Delaware, and York counties.
Most patients impacted by this event were prescribed stimulants. Patients impacted by this event may be seeking resources to re-establish care, specifically for the treatment of conditions managed by stimulants.
If you have a practice in the above counties, you may receive an increase in calls or visits from patients because of this incident. When a patient who has been treated with stimulants suddenly stops taking their medication or takes less than they normally do, the patient may experience withdrawal symptoms, including insomnia or severe fatigue, feelings of depression, anxiety, or inability to feel pleasure, paranoia, cravings associated with specific cues such as objects, people, or other substances, hypersexuality and/or impaired sexual functioning.
