Apr 17, 2025, 10:06 AM

Erie County is reporting two additional confirmed cases of measles in Erie County residents. These cases were identified as direct exposures to the person reported as positive on March 30, 2025. Since these three cases are epidemiologically linked, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines these cases as an outbreak.

Individuals who were at the outbreak location during the time of exposure should monitor for symptoms of measles until April 26, 2025. Measles symptoms start with a high fever and cough, often followed by red watery eyes, runny nose and a rash beginning at the hairline and spreading over the face and body. Individuals who are fully vaccinated are 97% less likely to contract the virus and infect others.
