PAMED’s 2024 Poster Contest for Residents, Fellows, and Medical Students

Plan to Participate - Abstract Submission NOW OPEN!

Submit your research and gain recognition amongst your peers!  Below is the outline of dates for the submission process:

  • December 15, 2023 - Abstract submissions open

  • January 31, 2024 - Abstracts due by midnight 

  • March 1, 2024 - Six finalists will be chosen to present a 4-6 minute poster presentation at PAMED's Headquarters in Mechanicsburg, PA. A $75 stipend will be provided to finalists selected to travel.

  • April 26, 2024 Finalists will present at a LIVE event at PAMED's Headquarters: 400 Winding Creek Blvd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Winners will be named at the event.

2024 Poster Competition Guidelines and Criteria

  • Entry is free as a PAMED member benefit. To become a member, go to www.pamedsoc.org/join.
  • All submissions must be original clinical works of individuals actively engaged in medical school, residency or fellowship training.
  • Abstracts must be clinical in nature, which connotes use of scientific method to derive original data in the patient care setting.
  • Abstracts will be required to meet at least one of these educational goals:
    1. Identify new avenues of research occurring in Pennsylvania.
    2. Diagnose illnesses based on new research information.
    3. Recognize the interdisciplinary team benefits of performing research studies.
    4. Evaluate the role of new techniques and approaches as applied to the care and management of patients in Pennsylvania.
    5. Identify and utilize best practices in the interdisciplinary team management of patients.
    6. Implement clinical and scientific strategies designed to improve the quality of care in Pennsylvania.
    7. Effectively communicate with colleagues and with patients regarding advances in clinical care.
    8. Incorporate advances in clinical research into innovative management strategies designed to improve patient outcomes and the quality of care in Pennsylvania.
    9. Describe the current trends in evaluations and treatment for patients in Pennsylvania.
    10. Apply risks and benefits of new technology to decisions regarding procedures performed in Pennsylvania to achieve better patient outcomes.
    11. Identify the successes and failures of past and current issues within interdisciplinary teams in order to coordinate with other medical experts to guide the future of medicine.
  • All abstract submissions must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. Wed., January 31.
  • The submissions must include:
    1. Abstract Title
    2. Authors’ Names & Contact Info
    3. Institution Affiliations
  • Abstracts will be a maximum of 400 words. Title, authors, and institution affiliations are not included in word count. 
  • Graphs, figures, and photos should not be included in the submitted abstract but should be incorporated into a poster if selected to present.
  • All submitters will be notified via e-mail regarding acceptance or rejection of their abstract by Fri., March 1, 2024.
  • Authors of entries accepted for the poster competition must have the ability to present their submission at PAMED Headquarters, 400 Winding Creek Blvd., Mechanicsburg, the afternoon of Friday, April 26, 2024.
