Important Update for Medical and Osteopathic Trainees Enrolled in Pa.’s Medicaid Program

Last Updated: Oct 26, 2017

On. Oct. 26, 2017, Pa.'s Department of Human Services (DHS) notified the Pennsylvania Medical Society that it has identified 624 medical trainees or osteopathic trainees that enrolled in Medical Assistance (MA), Pa.'s Medicaid Program, and who now have or will have an expired trainee license.

Here's what you should know if you enrolled in MA and either have an updated training license or you now have an MD or DO license:

  • If you still have a trainee license, you should provide your updated license information to DHS, as the MT or OT license is only issued by the Department of State for one year.
  • If you now have an MD or DO license, you should re-apply to the Medical Assistance program with your MD or DO license.

For additional details on this process, access this DHS MA Bulletin on services ordered, referred, or prescribed by graduate medical or osteopathic trainees. Enrollment application information is available online here.
