Influenza A (H3N2) Activity Increasing in Pennsylvania – Get Treatment and Testing Guidance

Last Updated: Jan 16, 2018

The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) has issued a health advisory indicating that influenza A (H3N2) activity has increased sharply over the past few weeks in the U.S. and in the Commonwealth. The advisory was issued on Jan. 10, 2018, and shared with Pennsylvania physicians and others subscribed to receive PA Health Alert Network (PA-HAN) alerts.

DOH says that antiviral treatment should be used for high-risk, severely ill, and all hospitalized patients immediately without waiting for confirmatory test results. The advisory also includes additional treatment, testing, and reporting recommendations for clinicians.
