Screening of Employees for Exclusion from Participation in Federal Health Care Programs

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) was created to identify and eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. OIG has the authority to exclude persons that have engaged in fraud or abuse from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, and other Federal Health Care Programs. 

Health care entities who participate in Federal Health Care Programs should routinely screen to ensure that new hires and current employees are not on the excluded list.
