PAMPAC Endorses Judge Kevin Brobson for Pennsylvania Supreme Court

On September 15th the PAMPAC Board of Directors interviewed candidates for the upcoming 2021 Pennsylvania Supreme Court election. As a result of that process, the Board voted unanimously to endorse Judge Kevin Brobson.

Since 2010, Judge Brobson has served as a judge on Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Court and was elected by his peers to be the Court’s President Judge in 2020. While judicial candidates are limited in their ability to comment on matters that could potentially come before them as jurists, Judge Brobson did openly share his overall judicial philosophy and the important role the court plays on broad issues affecting physicians and the delivery of patient care.

Members of the PAMPAC Board felt strongly that Judge Brobson understood the importance of the Supreme Court’s current rules on venue, an issue that could significantly alter Pennsylvania’s current medical liability climate if these rules were to be changed. As part of the Board’s deliberation, Judge Brobson’s previous judicial experience, including favorable rulings for healthcare practitioners in cases that the Pennsylvania Medical Society was a named petitioner. It should also be noted that PAMPAC supported Judge Brobson when he ran for Commonwealth Court in 2010.  Judge Brobson also noted that, as the brother-in-law to a practicing OB/GYN, he understood the pressure physicians feel when it comes to the judicial system.
