Physician Assistant Written Agreements Moving to an Online Submittal Process via PALS

At the March 9, 2021 Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine meeting, it was announced by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs (BPOA) that physician assistant written agreements may now be submitted online through the Pennsylvania Licensing System (PALS).

Instructions regarding how to submit written agreements through PALS have been uploaded to the State Board of Medicine’s website. These instructions can be accessed here

Instructions have also been uploaded to the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine’s website. These instructions can be accessed here.

Note that instructions vary depending on whether the physician or physician assistant initiates the written agreement on PALS. The process on PALS requires both the physician and physician assistant to complete certain information before submitting the agreement.

Terminations of written agreements can also be completed on PALS. Instructions regarding terminations of written agreements through PALS can be accessed here.

At the State Board of Medicine meeting, BPOA reported that paper submittal of written agreements is currently slated to cease April 30, 2021. After which, written agreements must be submitted entirely online through PALS.

The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) will continue to monitor the transition of written agreements to an online submittal process and update members accordingly of any additional developments.
