On March 19, 2020, the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) sent a letter to Gov. Tom Wolf outlining key issues and potential solutions concerning how to address the COVID-19 emergency.
More than a dozen key issues were addressed in the letter, including:
- Enabling active-retired physicians to meet patient needs
- Insurance prior authorization requirements
- Financial relief for practices and health care workers
- Availability of PPEs
- Good Samaritan protections

“As a Pennsylvania organization representing physicians across the spectrum, many of whom are on the frontlines of the fight against this virus, we fully offer ourselves to the administration as a resource,” wrote PAMED’s EVP/CEO Martin Raniowski in the letter.
