Coronavirus-PencilOn March 19, 2020, the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) sent a letter to Gov. Tom Wolf outlining key issues and potential solutions concerning how to address the COVID-19 emergency.

More than a dozen key issues were addressed in the letter, including:

  • Insurance prior authorization requirements
  • Financial relief for practices and health care workers
  • Availability of PPEs
  • Good Samaritan protections

Read full text of letter here.

“As a Pennsylvania organization representing physicians across the spectrum, many of whom are on the frontlines of the fight against this virus, we fully offer ourselves to the administration as a resource,” wrote PAMED’s EVP/CEO Martin Raniowski in the letter.

PAMED thanks the Governor’s Administration and Pa. Secretary of Health Rachel Levine, MD for their leadership in this challenging time. We look forward to working with the state as we continue to fight COVID-19.

    I Agree with this so far, but it should also include mandates from State and Federal levels to temporarily put;

    a moratorium on MIPS reporting

    a moratorium of any and all malpractice cases

    It would allow criminal malfeasance prosecution for willful assault etc. It is impossible to follow traditional standards of care under pandemic conditions and supply and shortages etc.

    please request that testing

    for SARS COV-2 be more

    widely available. I am in Somerset County and am not aware of reasonable options  for testing if PA DOH and UPMC refuse. (No commercial testing in this area that I am aware of)
