PAMED Physician Leaders Meet with D.C. Lawmakers at AMA National Advocacy Conference

Toomey-Office-2020Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) physician leaders attended the National Advocacy Conference (NAC) hosted by the American Medical Association (AMA) in Washington, D.C., from Feb. 10-12, 2020.

The NAC offers physician leaders and key state medical society staff a high-quality program of speakers who provide a perspective on health policy issues from inside the Beltway. It also encourages Capitol Hill visits with members of the congressional delegation from each state. 

Capitol Hill Visits

The Pennsylvania NAC delegation met with the majority of the PA Congressional delegation, including the offices of both Sen. Pat Toomey and Sen. Bob Casey. Issues addressed during these visits included:

  • Prior authorization
  • Surprise billing 
  • Medical marijuana research
  • Telemedicine
  • The Conrad 30 Waiver Program for physicians with J-1 visas
