Student, Resident, and Fellow Poster Contest

PAMED Annual House of Delegates Meeting
Hershey Lodge & Convention Center, Hershey, PA
 

Gain recognition and valuable feedback from practicing physicians from all over the state.  


The top three places win cash prizes of $600, $350, and $200 and will be featured in a PAMED publication.

2019 Submission Guidelines

  • The deadline to submit abstract submissions is Monday, Sept. 16.
  • One submission per PAMED member. Entry is a free PAMED member benefit. (To become a member, join online or call (855) PAMED4U (855) 726-3348. PAMED membership is free to all students and residents.)
  • All entries must be original clinical works of individuals in medical school or actively engaged in residency or fellowship training.
  • Authors of entries accepted for the poster competition must be present Saturday, Oct. 26 by 8:20 AM to discuss their submission for judging.
  • All submitters will be notified via e-mail by Friday, Oct. 4 if they have been selected to present at PAMED's annual poster contest.


2019PosterContestAbstract Criteria

  • Abstracts must be clinical in nature, which connotes use of scientific method to derive original data in the patient care setting. 
  • The submissions must include:
    • Abstract Title
    • Authors’ Names & Contact Info
    • Institution Affiliations
  • Abstracts will be required to meet at least one of these educational goals:
    • Identify new avenues of research occurring in Pennsylvania
    • Evaluate the role of new techniques and approaches as applied to the care and management of patients in Pennsylvania
    • Identify and utilize best practices in the interdisciplinary team management of patients
    • Incorporate advances in clinical research into innovative management strategies designed to improve patient outcomes and the quality of care in Pennsylvania.
  • Abstracts will be a maximum of 300 words. Title, authors, and institution affiliations are not included in word count. 
  • Graphs, figures, and photos should not be included in the submitted abstract, but should be incorporated into the poster for presentation.


Poster Presentation

  • A panel of physician judges will choose the top 25 abstracts to be presented at the PAMED Annual Business Meeting in Hershey on Oct. 26, 2019.
  • Invited posters are to be prepared in advance. Bulletin board and pins will be provided.
  • Posters should include: Title, authors, institution affiliations, and a detailed description of methods and clinical results. Graphs, tables, and photos are encouraged on posters.
  • Posters sizes are restricted to 4'x3'.
  • From 8:30 – 9:30, judges will visit and examine each presentation. Authors must be available for questions and discussion during this time.


Judging and Awards

  • Judging will be based on the following standards: a) Clinical Outcomes; b) Scientific Merit; c) Quality of Delivery and Discussion; and d) Originality.
  • Winners will be awarded during the first session of the House of Delegates following the poster competition.
