On Monday, PAMED wrote to the House Health Committee on behalf of physician members on two pieces of legislation that are scheduled for a vote.

PAMED opposes House Bill 1005. If enacted, this legislation would require emergency physicians to provide information that is not readily available in an emergency setting because of patient consciousness, cognition, recollection of events and unknown substances that brought about the emergent event. This would have unintended consequences of including ALL overdose events, including events unrelated to addiction.

PAMED supports House Bill 1959. If enacted, this legislation would authorize the clinical study of the efficacy and cost/benefit optimization of the psilocybin-assisted therapy in the treatment of PTSD, traumatic brain injury and various mental health conditions.

Stay tuned for updates on the outcome of these bills.
