pregnant-womanJan. 23, 2020, is Maternal Health Awareness Day in Pennsylvania. PAMED recognizes the efforts of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and its Pa. Chapter in successfully bringing a Maternal Health Awareness Day to Pennsylvania.

In recognition of this important topic, Penn Medicine hosted an ACOG-sponsored statewide talk and webinar on Jan. 23 aimed at raising awareness about maternal health and promoting maternal safety. Given that most maternal deaths are preventable, it is crucial to understand why women are dying to help save lives. The Pennsylvania House of Representatives unanimously passed this resolution as a result of rising deaths related to pregnancy in Pennsylvania and across the country.

The PaACOG chapter is made up of more than 3,000 medical professionals dedicated to advancing medicine in the area of obstetrics and gynecology.
