Get Engaged

One of the priorities of PAMED President Danae Powers, MD, is to give members more opportunities to get engaged. Learn how you can get involved in leadership or simply tell us what topics you're passionate about here.

PAMED Board Meeting

The PAMED Board of Trustees met on Feb. 6. Among other items, they approved the following advocacy priorities for 2019:

  • Scope of Practice - Read the letter PAMED and other stakeholders sent to the Pa. House of Representatives on Feb. 11, 2019.
  • Maintenance of Certification (MOC)
  • Prior Authorization
  • Narrow Networks/Any Willing Provider/Out-of-Network Billing
  • Physician Wellness

Learn more here.

Watch for an email coming soon from your District Trustee for a summary of Board meeting discussions. You can access past Board meeting and Executive Committee meeting minutes here.

Ask the Chair

Have a question for our Board Chair John Gallagher, MD? Ask it at www.pamedsoc.org/AsktheChair and get a timely response.

Town Hall – It's important that we hear the voice of our members. One way we're doing this is through town halls. If you couldn't participate in our town hall on Jan. 7, 2019, you can view the recording here.

Proposed Venue Changes

The Pa. Supreme Court's Civil Procedural Rules Committee is proposing a rule change that would increase the number of venue options for medical liability lawsuits. If adopted, this will negatively impact physicians and patients statewide. Physicians must stop this threat before it becomes a crisis. Act Now: While the Supreme Court's recent decision to await a study on the effects that changing venue rules could have on the commonwealth before it considers whether to make changes is a positive development, it's essential that physicians continue to express their opposition by the Friday, Feb. 22 comment deadline. If you haven't already, I strongly encourage you to submit your personal comments before tomorrow's deadline. PAMED makes it easy with a comment form that goes straight to the Committee. PAMED also submitted comments. You can learn more and read them here.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Reform

The Vision Commission recently released its final report. Learn more here. MOC continues to be one of PAMED's advocacy priorities in 2019. Learn more here.

Again, thanks for your ongoing advocacy on behalf of your patients, practice, and all of Pennsylvania. Your efforts make the difference.

Sincerely, your Speakers,
John Pagan, MD
John Spurlock, MD

Member Login Change Reminder:

PAMED recently updated its member login system to identify you by your email address instead of with a username. This change is for a better user experience of the PAMED website tools and resources. Additional measures have also been put in place to increase our security of your personal information.

If your email address was already your username, you received an email from PAMED on Feb. 5 that contained the email address you used as your user name, letting you know that no action was needed. Otherwise, you received an email with the information and instructions you needed to create a new account.

If you have any questions or experience any issues, please contact PAMED's Knowledge Center at 855-PAMED4U (855-726-3348).
