PAMED Spotlight: Women Physicians Section

Last Updated: Mar 9, 2022

On Tuesday we recognized International Women’s Day! Did you know PAMED has a Women Physicians Section (WPS)? The section gives women physician members a voice in leadership, policymaking, and advocacy at PAMED.

Previously known as the Women Physicians Caucus, the section was created by the PAMED House of Delegates in 2018. The goal of the section is not only to establish comradery in networking, voicing concerns, and sharing common experiences but to advocate and advance PAMED policy on issues affecting women.

The WPS has been instrumental in :

  • PAMED’s adoption of the Gender Equity in Medicine policy ( 2020).
  • Bringing the issue of salary gag clauses in employment contracts to PAMED’s Board of Trustees (BOT). This resulted in letters to the state’s hospitals informing them that gag clauses can be a violation of the National Labor Relations Act.
  • Submitting a resolution at the 2021 Annual Meeting, promoting the Women’s Preventative Services Initiative Recommendations. It is currently being studied by the Board of Trustees.

The WPS routinely invites speakers to their meetings to address priority issues impacting women physicians. To learn more about the section and representatives in your area visit Women Physicians Section | PAMED (
