The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) announces the winners of its annual research poster contest for residents and student members.
First place winner, Theresa Tran said, “Throughout medical school, it is too easy to feel like you have imposter syndrome. I entered my poster into the contest out of curiosity to see how my efforts compared, and I did not expect to receive the feedback that I did. I feel incredibly grateful to my colleagues and mentors who supported and guided me to get to where I am today."
At the beginning of the year, students and residents submit abstracts for their research, and the top ten are chosen to submit a 4 to 6-minute poster presentation. The presentations are judged by a panel of PAMED physician members to choose the winners.
1st Place Winner, Theresa Tran, student at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. Research title: “Lung Transplant Survival with Past and Concomitant Cardiac Revascularization”.
2nd Place Winner, Dr. Ryan Lamm, Resident at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Research title: “The Impact of the Pandemic on Melanoma Presentation: a COVID-19 Cancer Canary in a Coal Mine”.
3rd Place Winner, Dr. Ji Young Lee, Resident at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Research title: “Utility of Abdominal CT in Children with Suspected Physical Abuse and Elevated Hepatic Transaminases”
