Pa. School Mask Order Upheld by State Panel After House Health Committee Sought Review

Last Updated: Oct 21, 2021

On Oct. 21, 2021, the Pennsylvania Joint Committee on Documents decided that Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam’s statewide mask order for Pennsylvania schools does not need to be enacted through the state’s system of passing governmental regulations. A meeting of this committee was required after the House Health Committee voted to request the review and asked the committee to take up the matter. More information can be found here.

The Committee’s decision means that the order remains in place and does not have to go through the regulatory process. The order is also at issue in a pair of lawsuits currently in the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court.
