Navitha Ramesh, MD, who practices pulmonology and critical care medicine at UPMC West Shore in Mechanicsburg and UPMC Community Osteopathic in Harrisburg, has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) as an Everyday Hero. PAMED’s Everyday Hero Award is designed to showcase talented physicians who probably don’t view themselves as heroes, but to patients and colleagues they are.
“She is an intensivist who has been on the frontlines of taking care of the sickest COVID-19 patients,” said one nominator who describes her in one word as passionate. “She is a huge patient advocate and never gives up on her patients. She has a love for educating and guiding residents through their medical career. Anyone would be fortunate to work with her and have her as their physician in the ICU.”
Another nominator, who describes Dr. Ramesh as a devoted physician, adds “Dr. Ramesh comes to work every day and gives absolutely 100% from the beginning of the day until she walks out the door. She includes the entire medical team in her decision making, she builds strong working relationships with the nurses, and takes the time to educate the residents and help them grow in their practice. She is constantly educating herself as well and shares journal articles with the entire medical team. She has a very compassionate and effective way to communicate with families and when she tells them she did everything she could, she 100% means it.”
The presentation will be held on Wednesday, April 28, at 4:45 p.m., in the Beryl Clemens Brown Board Room at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Brady Building. Local media and legislators are invited to attend.
Patients and medical colleagues can nominate PAMED member physicians for this award at www.pamedsoc.org/EverydayHero.
Dr. Ramesh also was recently named one of PAMED’s Top Physicians Under 40 for 2021. Learn more at www.pamedsoc.org/Top40.
