Movement Stalled on HB 1562

Last Updated: Oct 6, 2021

Last week, PAMED reached out to physicians asking them to contact their legislator and voice opposition to HB 1562.  The legislation, which would grant health insurers access to the state’s PDMP database, was being readied for committee consideration in the coming weeks.  PAMED learned earlier this week that HB 1562 has been stalled and will likely not see any movement for the foreseeable future, if at all.  While this is good news and a positive result from our advocacy efforts, we will continue to monitor this proposal in the event circumstances change.  Getting actively involved and making calls to elected officials does make a difference.  PAMED member physicians should be encouraged by the recent developments with HB 1562 and continue to respond similarly to future “calls-to-action”.
