 VERY IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

When completing the last step in the course, the "Required Fields for Licensure" section, you must enter the requested personal data and ensure that it is identical to your license information on file with the Department of State. Failure to enter required data, purposely entering false data, or mistakenly entering data that does not match your license information on file with the Department of State can delay confirmation of completion of the course and stall your license renewal.

FOR LICENSE RENEWAL

This 2-hour course is a PAMED member only program for physicians seeking to renew a license. You will not see this in your catalog unless you are a member, JOIN NOW

In order for your course completion to be confirmed by the Department of State, the personal information you are required to enter as the last step in the course must match the information in your license record exactly. The automatic transfer of your course completion to the Department of State and matching to your license file usually
takes 3 business days, provided the personal data you entered matches your license information on file. If the data entered doesn't match the information on file with the Department of State, your license renewal will be stalled.

Some physicians who are already licensed have taken a three-hour child abuse reporting and recognition course and are asking if all three hours can be counted toward the medical license renewal requirement of 100 total credit hours of CME in the two-year license cycle.

PAMED reached out to The State Board of Medicine and the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine on this issue. We have received the following clarification which applies to both MDs and DOs:

  • Physicians holding existing Pennsylvania licenses will only receive credit for two hours of training at renewal, regardless of whether a physician chose to complete a three-hour course.
  • The two hours of required training may be counted toward the 100 hours of the total CME required for biennial license renewal. However, the additional hour cannot be used towards fulfilling your other CME requirements.

Cost

This course is only available for PAMED members.

Objectives - At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review Pennsylvania's child welfare system structure and differentiate between child protective services and general protective services.
  • Outline key changes in Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law that apply to physicians as mandated reporters, including the expanded legal definition of child abuse and new reporting obligations.
  • Describe the roles, rights and responsibilities of physicians and applicable office staff as mandated reporters of suspected child abuse.
  • Assess potential signs and symptoms of child abuse and other indicators that would require a report of suspected child abuse.
Utilize prescribed reporting channels and processes to report suspected child abuse via telephone or the Internet.

    Hi,

Thank you very much for email me back earlier.

I am not a member currently. I completed the license renewal course earlier,  Opioids Crisis: Identifying Addiction and Referral to Treatment.

Will this course completion data will be transferred to the Department of State?

    Best

    Thank you very much

instead of asking us about ways to mitigate physician "burnout", how about streamlining this process? it is bad enough that an adult urologist has to take a child abuse course every 2 years to begin with, let alone torture us with the process of signing up!

Renewed my PAMED membership to be able to do Child Abuse CME. Despite logging in and out and waiting after joining, the Catalog only shows me non-member/non-physician courses and I cannot do the CME I need for license renewal. Please help.
