(HERSHEY, Pa. – 10/27/19) David A. Talenti, MD, a gastroenterologist who practices in Wayne County, was elected by a statewide group of physicians Saturday to serve as vice president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED).
Dr. Talenti’s election took place during PAMED’s annual House of Delegates in Hershey, Pa. He begins his new position immediately and will serve a one-year term.
After another one-year term as president-elect starting in October 2020, Dr. Talenti will be inaugurated as the organization’s president in October 2021. He will be the first physician from Wayne County to serve as PAMED President in the organization’s 171-year history.
Dr. Talenti has been a PAMED member for 16 years and served as chair of its Board of Trustees from 2014-17. He has a diverse professional background that includes time in private practice and a large health system.
Dr. Talenti is currently a partner at Northeastern Gastroenterology Associates in Honesdale, Pa. Prior to that, Dr. Talenti practiced at the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pa. (1993-2001 and 2002-2016) and at Intermountain Medical Group (2001-2002).
In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Talenti taught medical students at SUNY Upstate Medical Center and Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, and was director of the GI Fellowship Program at Guthrie.
After earning his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in 1988, Dr. Talenti completed an internal medicine residency at Guthrie Clinic and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Cleveland Clinic.
