7 Changes to Novitasphere Medicare Part B Portal

computers-ipad-papers-articleNovitas Solutions has announced changes to its Novitasphere Medicare Part B internet portal, including new features such as medical review claims and appeals requests for redeterminations.

The Novitasphere updates and new features include:

  1. Immediate recoupment requests—For providers who have received an overpayment demand letter from Medicare. You may select to have your overpayment repaid through the immediate recoupment process.
  2. Appeals requests for redeterminations—Allows providers to submit redeterminations and clerical error reopening requests for finalized claims.
  3. General inquiry requests—Used to submit general requests to Medicare on topics like coverage guidelines or policy issues. This feature is not for questions that are claims-specific, questions that require personal health information (PHI), or questions related to Novitasphere.
  4. Medical review claims—Used to perform a search of medically reviewed claims to obtain Additional Documentation Request (ADR) dates, ADR letter copies, review status, and education information.
  5. Changes to claims search process—The Patient Medicare Number, First Name Initial, and Last Name fields are no longer required to search for claims.
  6. Features requesting Medicare number will allow the new Medicare Beneficiary Number (MBI) number to be entered.
  7. New MBI Lookup Tool—The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is in the process of updating Medicare cards and replacing the old Health Insurance Claim Numbers (HICNs) with MBI numbers. The lookup tool allows you to look up your patient’s MBI number if they have not provided you with their updated card.
