Pa. Medical Society Reacts Highmark-UPMC Announcement

Last Updated: Jun 24, 2019

The following is a statement from Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED):

(HARRISBURG - June 24, 2019) The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) applauds today’s announcement that UPMC and Highmark have agreed to a 10-year contract that ends their longstanding dispute.

PAMED believes limiting patient choice, access to care, and narrowing networks can be extremely detrimental to patient health, especially for our most vulnerable populations.

This deal ensures our physician members can focus on what they love and do best – use their training and expertise and provide care that enriches the lives of their patients.
Today’s deal ensures Highmark patients will have access to UPMC doctors and facilities.
