A process for payment of the Mcare refunds of deceased physicians is now in place.
The personal representative of a deceased physician may apply to receive the refund notice for the physician, to make decisions about claims and assignments involving the physician’s refunds, and to have refunds payable to the physician paid to the physician’s estate.
Physicians may wish to share this information with the family of deceased colleagues who practiced in Pennsylvania during the refund years.
It will be important for personal representatives to submit an application as soon as possible so that they are able to receive notice of the deceased health care provider’s refunds and participate in decisions as to payment of those refunds.
