Tell Your State Lawmaker to Vote 'No' to SkimpCare, CRNP Independent Practice

Last Updated: Apr 5, 2018

Eliminating Physician/CRNP Collaboration = SkimpCare

Email or call your State Representative NOW and urge them to oppose House Bill 100 and Senate Bill 25, legislation that would allow certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNPs) to practice independently in Pennsylvania without the vital safety net of a collaborative agreement with a physician.

PAMED has successfully defeated CRNPs' attempts for independent practice for decades, but mounting legislative and political pressure on members of the House of Representatives is changing the dynamics, leading to the possible consideration of these bills.

CRNPs continue to make their voices heard loud and clear with legislators – physicians need to do the same!

You wouldn’t send a football team onto the field without the leader of the team, a quarterback, so why should legislators think it’s okay to take the leader of the health care team, a physician, out of a patient’s health care? That’s SkimpCare.

Don't let your lawmaker skimp on your patients’ health care by removing the physician from the health care team. More than 90 percent of Pennsylvanians said that doctors and nurse practitioners should work together in a coordinated manner to ensure that patients get the care they need.

PAMED continues to strongly oppose HB 100 and SB 25, and supports a physician-led, team-based approach to care.
