PAMED's HOD is where Pennsylvania physicians from all specialties and across all of the state’s geographic regions come annually to meet debate persuade recommend and vote on ways to make health care better in Pennsylvania. This annual meeting is a great opportunity to let your voice be heard on many issues that could affect you your profession or your patients.
Each year delegates and alternate delegates are selected by each of the county medical societies medical specialty societies and special sections that represent young physicians students residents and fellows and international medical graduates. Before arriving at the House of Delegates meeting the delegates typically meet by county specialty and section—either by phone or in-person—to discuss their recommendations for action that have been submitted for the meeting.
During the HOD delegates will attend reference committee meetings on Saturday to testify for or against an idea (aka resolutions) or to simply learn more about its roots and the reasoning of its author. On Sunday they gather as a body to vote the resolutions up or down.
Members regardless of whether they are delegates are invited to sit in on the reference committee discussions and engage in the decision-making process.
