Do you want become a part of organized medicine but aren’t sure how to get involved in the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) and your county medical society? Think it takes a lot of time to get involved in preserving your medical profession and don’t have the extra time?
There is no better way to support the medical profession than becoming an actively involved PAMED member. You can help shape the future of your profession and be a part of the solution a few minutes at a time.
Here are ten ways to get involved that only take a few minutes:
- Learn more about the PAMED Blueprint and contact Gus Geraci, MD, vice president of physician leadership in quality and value at PAMED, to find out more about leading quality and value.
- Join the Member Opinion Panel, a group of volunteers who help shape the organization by answering a survey about four times a year.
- Write an email to your legislators through Voter Voice and become involved with legislative issues affecting your profession and your patients.
- Subscribe to our newsletters and be in the know on news related to legislation and regulations, practice management and reimbursement, innovations by your colleagues, and more.
- Make sure your practice manager is a PAMED member. If you’re not sure, contact our membership department at (800) 228-7823.
- Check with your medical staff office to be sure they’re receiving Red Zone, a monthly handout of the latest news and resources posted on PAMED’s website. Contact Theresa Phillips to sign up.
- Contribute to the Pennsylvania Medical Political Action Committee (PAMPAC), the political arm of PAMED.
- Donate to the Foundation, the philanthropic affiliate of PAMED that offers members a variety of educational and support services.
- Sign up for our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter.
- Contact your county medical society and find out how you can participate at the local level.
Got more time? Here are some additional ways you can get involved:
- Volunteer to serve on a council or committee by contact the PAMED administration office at stat@pamedsoc.org or (800) 228-7823.
- Ask your county or specialty to represent it at our annual House of Delegates meeting. That requires a full weekend in October, but it’s the place where PAMED’s priorities and policies are set for the coming year and beyond.
