Dr. Heine was elected vice president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society in 2009. At PAMED, Dr. Heine chaired its Executive Council on Political Advocacy and the PAMPAC Board of Directors. She was also a member of PAMED’s Council on Membership, Commission on Women Physicians, and priority workgroup to achieve tort reform.

Her leadership also extends to other organized medical associations. She is a past president of the Bucks County Medical Society as well as the Pennsylvania chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. At the national level, Dr. Heine has been involved with the American Medical Association, AMPAC, and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Born in New Jersey, Dr. Heine received her undergraduate degree in psychology cum laude from Brandeis University, and her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. After serving in the Public Health Service’s Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program at the National Institutes of Health and a subinternship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) Hospital in Philadelphia, followed by a clinical and research fellowship at TJU’s Cardeza Foundation for Hematologic Research and the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine and in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Heine is married to Arlin Silberman, DO, an addiction psychiatrist. They reside in Dresher, Pa., and share a mutual enjoyment of gardening, cooking, and travel.

The patient-doctor relationship has been the priority of the Pennsylvania Medical Society since its founding in 1848. While there are always issues being debated about health systems and reform, the physician members of the Medical Society continue to focus on better health for all Pennsylvanians.
