Practice Manager Membership

We often hear from practice managers who tell us they aren't really sure what the Pennsylvania Medical Society does. This site will help you better understand the role of the Medical Society and how membership can benefit you and your practice.

Definition

For the purposes of membership, a practice manager is:

  • One who directly manages a medical practice and is not a consultant
  • Employed directly by a physician, or the physician and practice manager are employed by the same organization
  • Eligible for membership if at least one physician in the practice is a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society

Benefits

Practice manager membership entitles you to virtually all of the same benefits as physician members, with the exception of serving on councils and voting on board issues.

A few benefits of particular interest to practice managers are:

  • Assistance in speeding up the credentialing process
  • Information designed to help you better understand coding and billing
  • Expert assistance in calling insurance companies on physicians' behalf for problems with payments
  • Low cost reviews of employment and managed care contracts
  • Free email and websites
  • Regional practice manager meetings
  • JobBank
