Kit Offers Tips on Immunizations for Health Care Workers

Health professionals are oftentimes early adopters with new technologies like the iPad or iPhone, but sometimes can be laggards when it comes to getting immunized.

The Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition (PAIC) hopes to change the immunization status of health professionals and simplify the process by offering an immunization toolkit on their website.

It provides an easy way health care facilities and physician practices of all sizes can implement an immunization campaign or give a boost to one that needs refreshed.

The toolkit provides background materials for educating staff, implementation tools, recommendations and guidelines for all adult immunizations, a schedule for inoculations, and sample promotional materials.

PAIC’s goals is to increase immunizations for all communicable diseases. This includes increasing the rate for  H1N1 immunization from 35 percent to closer to 100 percent in 2010-2011, with exemptions limited to those stated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Pennsylvania Medical Society is working in conjunction with PAIC to promote health care worker immunization.
