Poll Demonstrates Importance of Regular Doctor Visits
Nearly 73 percent of Pennsylvania adults surveyed in a recent poll said they only have their blood pressure checked when they visit their doctor, demonstrating why regular physicals and doctor visits are so important.
The poll, conducted by the Institute for Good Medicine at the Pennsylvania Medical Society, was one of a series of Patient Polls designed to periodically sample patients’ views on important health care issues. May is National High Blood Pressure Education Month.
High blood pressure often comes with no warning signs and can strike any person regardless of age, gender, or race.
One-quarter to one-third of American adults have high blood pressure, or hypertension. If it is not found and treated, the condition can cause major health problems such as stroke, heart disease, eye problems, or kidney failure.
